The Outer Banks, North Carolina was a strange place. There was no way to describe it than just that. Regardless of the modern society, the island almost felt as though it was trapped in the '50s with how the divide amongst the haves and have nots. Though the tourons didn't notice the divide from those who lived on The Cut versus Figure 8, to anyone who lived there the divide was painfully obvious. To pretend that the divide was not there would be enough to be committed to an institution.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀All his life, Jake grew up around the richest people on the island. The country clubs, galas, golf course, and yacht clubs were the most normal things in the world for him. Much like the rest of Kook Academy, Jake had the world laying at his feet waiting to be molded in his image. However, all it took was an affair to swallow up the brunet’s pre-determined life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With Leslie, his father’s assistant got caught running out of his parents bedroom appearance completely disheveled and clothing barely on, it was easy to know what had happened. The following months consisted of screaming matches and lawyers swirling around like vultures waiting to take the Porter family to the courtrooms.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ By the end of his sophomore year, Jake was stuck living in both The Cut and Figure 8. His mother had refused to leave her son or make him pick a parent; so even though the prenup was found valid in the court of law and left with nothing, she still stayed. In which, the male, bounced between each residence. However, even though it was completely against his wiring, the male spent far much more time on the south side. After all, it wasn’t his mother’s fault that his dad couldn’t keep it in his past. It wasn’t just Jake's life that changed, no, his mother lost her whole life, her money, and her support system while being exiled for demanding better treatment. Jake couldn’t leave her alone, he felt the need to try and be the man and support her at least help.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Knowing that his mother wouldn’t accept any money belonging to his father, Jake had gotten a part time job down at the cut to help her. However, when at his father’s the male was found at the golf course on a yacht. Yet, that didn’t mean he was ready to fight anyone who spoke of his family situation. No one was safe from his rage, but who could blame him? He wasn’t a Kook anymore, nor was he a Pogue. Jake William Porter was a man of isolation.
